You would think I should know everything about the Mike Austin method since I wrote the book on him (In Search of the Greatest Golf Swing). However, John Marshall has taught me a lot about how to perfect this efficient, powerful swing. First of all, unlike other teachers, he is not in love with hearing himself talk. He doesn't overload you with information that shows off his own expertise while confusing the student. Secondly, he prioritizes the changes he recommends, working from the most basic and important into the finer points. And third, he exudes an air of patience that is essential to making the student feel relaxed. This promotes the best atmosphere in which to learn. I would recommend that golfers at any level take lessons from John. And if you want to see how much John knows, just watch him hit a few balls. You'll see, hear and sense how solidly he hits the golf ball.

However, they fail to mention the good things. Your positive reinforcement meant a lot. I recently had a three-hour lesson with John Marshall, and frankly it was the best three hours I have spent with anyone, after many years of playing and experimenting with various swing styles.
          I have long been aware of the Mike Austin swing, but it remained a mystery to me.  There is only so much you can learn from books and tapes.  Nothing beats one-on-one instruction with a knowledgeable teacher such as John. In a very short time, he broke the swing down into just a few simple motions.  I was amazed at the simplicity and how quickly the swing was de-mystified.
          The swing is different than what is conventionally taught. The toughest part is trusting the motions of the Austin swing, and eliminating old swing thoughts and motions. Once you have this trust and ingrained the basic motions, watch out, ball goes far and straight!
          I cannot recommend John enough. If you come with an open mind, and willing to try something new and quite different, you will be most impressed. Impressed not only at the simplicity of the swing, but the power and accuracy it provides with seemingly little effort when compared with the more conventional methods. And when you hit a bad shot, you will know why. The swing has very few variables or moving parts. You will learn about self-correction and become your own best teacher in a very short time span."

I can't tell you how thrilled I was to find out there was an instructor in the Atlanta area that is accredited in the Mike Austin swing method.  Taking lessons from John Marshall has helped me immensely.  He's fun to work with, very knowledgeable, and extremely encouraging.  Each subsequent lesson leaves me with a better understanding of the swing, and there is no doubt in my mind that this method is far superior to all others.  I encourage anyone who wants to improve their golf swing to give John a try.  You won't be sorry -- and neither will your golf game.

Golf is a difficult game, but I have found that the Mike Austin method as taught by John Marshall makes it a whole lot easier.  I have always been fairly long but have struggled with accuracy. I recently took my first lesson with John Marshall who teaches Mike Austin's golf swing and theory. He is one of the best teachers I have ever met. He is a very smart man, and he is a class act as well. He saw me hit a few balls and then asked me if I was sure that I wanted to switch because he thought what I was doing looked very good. How many golf teachers do you know who would have done that, knowing that I might never come back for another lesson? He really cares about helping his students. He spent over two hours with me and would not take any additional money. We were in the parking lot talking long after the range closed. He also emailed me a summary of everything we discussed for me to study. I have never had any teacher do that. If you really want to learn Mike Austin's technique,  I highly recommend calling John, as he is an exceptional instructor.
